The Malanje Multipurpose Pavilion, while it didn’t host any official game of the 41st Roller Hockey World Championship, which took place in Angola between September 20 and 28, 2013, was included in the government program of Public Works created for this event, in order to host the 12th International Roller Hockey Tournament José Eduardo dos Santos, the last international tournament to prepare for the world championship.

It was opened on August 12, 2013, by the Vice-President of the Angolan Republic, Manuel Domingos Vicente, and it received the name of "Palanca Negra Gigante" (Giant Sable Antelope). Since this sports infrastructure was meant to host the last international tournament in preparation for the World Championship (August 22 to 25), we had to speed up the construction period by 20%, when comparing to the Namibe Multipurpose Pavilion, and the two pavilions were built simultaneously.

The sports infrastructure is identical to the Namibe Multipurpose Pavilion, holding 3000 people, and is equipped to host national and international sports events of roller hockey, basketball, volleyball, handball and indoor soccer.

O FELIZ ANGOLA has created the entire metallic structure covering the field and the general public stand, composed of main trellises of 57 m long and 3 m high, the metallic structure of the private cabins, the VIP area and the presidential cabin.

We were also in charge of all the outer metallic lining, namely the polyurethane panel façades, ventilated façades in aluminium blades and the lining of the roofs in a PVC membrane deck system.

The highlights in this project are its Execution Class, EXC3 according to EN1090, and the innovative construction techniques used in this high capacity sports infrastructure, following the most demanding current sports and structural regulatory requirements.
